40 Day Prayer Guide
2026 General Conference
40 Day Prayer Guide
July 15th - August 23rd
Prayer has always been at the center of how God moves among His people. Scripture reminds us, “If my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves, pray and seek my face… then I will hear from heaven” (2 Chronicles 7:14). We believe that as we humble ourselves together in prayer, God will guide, renew, and strengthen His Church. We also see in the early church that before important decisions were made, believers gathered in prayer. “They all were continually united in prayer” (Acts 1:14). This is our hope as well — that long before General Conference begins, we will already be united in spirit, seeking God's heart together.
During this season of prayer, you will join with a multitude of brothers and sisters across the Global Methodist Church, praying each day together. Though we may be separated by distance, we are united in purpose. And we hold onto this promise: “The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect” (James 5:16). We have collected 40 prayers from people all across the world who sense God calling them to be part of this movement of the Holy Spirit through the Global Methodist Church. It is our hope that you will not only use this 40 Days of Prayer Guide personally, but also share it with friends, family, and fellow believers. As we prepare to gather for General Conference 2026, we pray that our hearts will already be united — covered in prayer before we ever arrive.
May these 40 days draw you closer to the Lord. May they unite us as one body. And may the Holy Spirit move in powerful ways as we prepare for what God has ahead.
Day 1
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard,
The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments.
It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the Lord commanded the blessing— Life forevermore.
Psalm 133:1-3 NKJV
Pray:
Heavenly Father,
You are good in all Your ways. Through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, You have brought us into fellowship with You and with one another.
Because of His blood, we have peace with You and peace with one another.
Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us. Align our hearts with Your purposes and help us walk in unity with what You desire to accomplish through this General Conference. Grant us wisdom to hear Your voice clearly and grace to follow Your good, perfect, and pleasing will for the Global Methodist Church in this hour.
As delegates and volunteers travel, rest, and rise each day, shape our hearts toward unity, Lord. Guard our hearts and minds so that when we gather, our attention is already fixed on You. May our shared focus bring honor to You and blessing to the Global Methodist Church. Let what You desire for Your Church become our common response.
Consecrate us by Your Spirit for the work ahead. Anoint us as a priesthood of believers, set apart for Your service, and clothe us in the beauty of holiness. We ask for Your favor as we come together as one body in Jesus Christ. Renew us through the nourishment of Your Word. May it dwell deeply in us as we seek Your wisdom, live lives shaped by holiness, and invite others to come to You for salvation.
May our worship bring You joy, our prayers rise to You as a pleasing offering, and our witness reflect Your glory throughout the world. We ask for Your blessing of eternal life now, through this General Conference, through the Global Methodist Church, and to the end of the age. May You be glorified in all things. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."
1 Peter 1:15-16 NIV
Pray:
Holy and faithful God,
We come before You with grateful hearts, for You are the one who has called us, not because of our merits, but because of Your grace. You are holy, and Your calling is holy. We thank You for inviting us to enter into the Presence of Your holiness, which is not distant, but given to us through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Teach us again and again to discover the beauty of holiness. Do not allow us to reduce it to rules or obligations and thus lose the joy of life before Your face. Ignite our hearts and renew in us the desire to belong to You completely—in our daily decisions, in our relationships, and in our service.
Grant that we may not live by our own strength, but by the power of Your Spirit. Fill us with the Holy Spirit, who transforms us from within, leads us into truth, and unites us in unity. May our life together be a testimony that a life filled with the Spirit brings freedom, kindness, and courage to walk in Your ways.
We pray for the 2026 General Conference. May it be a place of holy discernment, where we listen to one another, but above all, we listen to Your voice and submit to Your guidance. Remind us that we are called not only to make the right decisions, but above all to be Your people—set apart for You and sent into the world in the service of spreading the gospel, to save the lost.
Lord, lead us into a holy calling that takes the form of humble obedience, persevering love, and faithful service. May everything we do reflect Your holiness and beauty for the good of the church and the world.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
Philippians 2:1-2 NIV
Pray:
As we come before You Abba father seeking Your Presence and direction for the upcoming General Conference, may we be united in mind and Spirit demonstrating the love, which binds us together and provides the delegates with the wisdom to prayerfully discern what brings You joy and carries out your desire for us to embody holy living before a world broken by pride and rebellion. May the light of the Gospel shine in us and through us bringing transformation and redemption to our world and become an answer to the prayer: "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong.
Ephesians 3:16-17 NLT
Pray:
Father God, Lord Jesus, and Holy Spirit,
We humbly come before Your throne to praise and glorify You, Father, for You alone are worthy to be praised. Lord Jesus, you have empowered us with inner strength through your Holy Spirit. We pray that we will continually keep our bodies a place of holiness that you may dwell within us, as we trust in you.
Father God, as the Global Methodist Movement continues to multiply, may we as your servants and disciples, allow our roots to continue to grow deep into your love and keep us strong in Your Word. Lord Jesus, we pray for a Holy Anointing upon the 2026 General Conference. May each one hear Your voice and feel Your mighty Presence. Father God, direct the meetings, may Your hand be upon them, and let them be in one accord. May we, Lord Jesus, be a people following Your holy calling upon our lives in seeking the lost to accept Your salvation.
Father God, may our worship, our prayers, our service rise up as incense before your throne. For you are the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, The Great I Am.
In the powerful name of Christ Jesus we pray,
Amen and Amen

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Colossians 3:12 NIV
Pray:
Almighty God,
Holy are You, Lord, there is none like You. We cannot fathom your greatness! We are not worthy of Your love, and yet You gave Your only Son to save us, and while we were still sinners. We are Your chosen people; You never give up on us, fervently seeking after us so that we may live in the abundance of life you have planned.
We ask for mercy as we confess our sins and give us grace to turn and leave them behind. Forgive us as we have not heard the cry of the poor, the sick, and the broken hearted. There are people all around us who do not know You, living without hope and a future. Fill us with a love so deep, that flows from You, to have a burning passion for sharing the Good News of Jesus. We pray for humble hearts as we respond to Your call to serve and love our neighbors.
We thank You for Your unfailing kindness and goodness. Your compassion never fails. May we speak faithfully about You in our homes, at work, throughout the region, and across the globe, as a testimony of our love for You, for who You are, and what You have done. May all we say and do throughout the Global Methodist Church make Your name great and we give you all the glory. Please be present with us as we seek to do your will and obey the call to spread scriptural holiness and make disciples for Christ.
Come, Holy Spirit, empower us to live humbly, to pray unceasingly, and to love others with the nature of Christ. Renew in us the steadfast hope we profess in You as our everlasting strength and Redeemer.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

For God has not called us for impurity, but in Holiness. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God. Who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
1 Thessalonians 4:7-8 ESV
Pray:
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the hope that we have in Jesus Christ. We anticipate His return, knowing that He will come to judge the living and the dead. Help us to live with purpose and passion, knowing that our time on earth is short. May we use our gifts and talents to serve others, to share the gospel and bring glory to Your Holy name. Thank You for sanctifying our hunger each day and still supplying for us. We are saying thank You.
We praise You, Holy God, for Your watchful protection, and we pray that our life will serve as a witness to others as the Holy Spirit witnesses Your work. Fulfill the mission of the Global Methodist Church General Conference and grant every delegate wisdom, strength to finish well in the mighty name Jesus.
God delights in our differences in sex, appearance, ability, gifts, personality and many other things so help us to celebrate our differences while embracing equality in Jesus' name.
Holy Spirit bring us into union, relocate us from being in Adam to being in Christ. Indeed, the same that animated Christ's humanity animates our own in the name of Jesus, consecrating all our delegates to be Holy. Amen.
Thank You for answering our prayer.
Amen.

"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks."
Luke 6:45 NKJV
Pray:
Heavenly Father,
Your Word in Luke 6:45 reminds us that a good person brings good things out of the good stored up in the heart, and that the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
Today, Lord, we come before You with humility, asking that You purify our hearts and renew our minds.
Father, remove from us anything that does not reflect Your character. Cleanse our hearts from bitterness, pride, anger, and negative thoughts. Create in us clean hearts, O God, and fill us with Your peace, love, and righteousness. Let Your Holy Spirit transform the deepest parts of our lives so that our hearts may store up goodness that comes from You.
Father, as You purify and fill our hearts, let our speech reflect the Presence of Jesus in us. May the words we speak to others bring encouragement, healing, hope, and life. Guard our tongues so that we do not speak words that tear down, but instead words that build up according to Your will.
Lord, even in the words we speak to ourselves, help us to remember who we are in You. Let our thoughts and declarations align with Your promises, Your truth, and Your purpose for our lives. May our conversations—both public and private—demonstrate the character of Christ living within us.
In Jesus' mighty name we pray.
Amen.

'For in him we live and move and have our being.'
Acts 17:28 NIV
Pray:
Lord, we come to You today with hearts full of thanksgiving for Your goodness and faithfulness. You are the source of all light and life. It is in You that we live and move and have our being.
We confess that too often our hearts are distracted by the worries of this world. We have been more concerned with our position, our politics, and our possessions than with Your Kingdom. Empty us of anything that would hinder our lives from bringing You honor. Forgive us and free us by Your grace. Turn our hearts fully back to You.
As we draw nearer to this General Conference, we ask that You would pour out Your Spirit upon us. May our hearts be captured by the things of Your heart. May our thoughts be saturated with the things of Your Spirit. Consume the dross within us with the fire of Your holy love, and grant us a singleness of mind devoted to You.
Lord Jesus, be the honored guest at every meeting and every gathering of this General Conference. Grant us the wisdom to discern Your will and the courage and power to carry it out. Teach us to love one another as You have loved us. Break our hearts with the things that break Yours. Give us a deep love for the lost, and show us how to be gracious and winsome witnesses to the world. May the hopes and dreams of Heaven become our lived reality.
Bring to completion Your good and perfect will in us and through us, for the honor and glory of Your name.
Amen.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire."
Hebrews 12:28-29 NIV
Pray:
This powerful statement from God's Holy Word emphasizes God's worthiness, sovereignty and holiness. It reminds us that we are safe in God's care and keeping, while also challenging us to live our lives filled with passion, purity and gratitude. As we prepare for another General Conference for the Global Methodist Church, I pray that God will kindle fresh fire in every heart involved in this fresh expression of the Wesleyan Revival.
Set Us on Fire!
Beloved Heavenly Father, please set our hearts on fire! We want to love You with every fiber of our being. Please remove all sin and brokenness from our lives and restore Your image in us.
Beloved Lord Jesus, please set our hearts on fire! Heighten in us a burning desire to know You, love You and serve You. We want to be about the Father's business. Help us to see, appreciate and seize the Kingdom opportunities You send our way.
Beloved Holy Spirit, please set our hearts on fire! Remove from us any inclination to view our lives as dull, insignificant, or boring. Purge our thoughts of any notion that our walk with Christ is a duty, obligation, or restriction.
Beloved Triune God, please give us courage to witness, zeal to serve, and passion to worship. Remove from us any sin, sloth, fear, or hinderance; so, we easily discern Your will and rejoice in obeying You. We want to know You more fully, follow You more closely, and serve more effectively.
We humbly ask this in the reality of Jesus and for His glory alone. Amen.

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him,…
Ephesians 1:17 NRSV
Pray:
Brothers and Sisters, let us pray,
Almighty God, in this morning and at this place, we are bowing our heads in prayers to express our words of gratitude for everything you have been doing in our favor. Thank Lord Jesus. We continue to exalt Your name, because You have chosen us and set each one of us apart to do Your work, that is why we pray that Your gracious love continues to hover in our lives and in church.
As Paul-The Apostle prayed for the believers to be strengthened by the Spirit with knowledge, love and hope and for the salvation of your people in the world. Lord Jesus, lead us into a full moment of prayers as you did with Esther your daughter, may everything we are doing here and praying for in favor of Your Church today be granted.
God Father, we pray that any human decision that may be taken during our Second General Conference be for the glory and honor of Your blessed name.
LORD JESUS THIS IS OUR PRAYER.
AMEN.

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light."
1 Peter 2:9 NIV
Pray:
Holy and Always-Faithful God,
You are the God of every tribe, tongue, and nation—and Your faithfulness knows no border. We come before You as Your chosen people, gathered from East Texas to East Africa, from the Americas to the ends of the Earth, united not by geography but by the holy calling You have placed upon our lives.
Forgive us, Lord, when we have made Your Church small. When we have confused cultural comfort with holy conviction, or mistaken uniformity for unity. You are calling us into something far greater—a Spirit-filled life that crosses oceans, learns new languages, and lays down its own preferences for the sake of the Gospel.
We thank You for the gift of the global Church. For brothers and sisters in Tanzania, in Central Europe, in every corner of Your world, who are declaring Your praise in their own tongues and testifying to the same Holy Spirit who transforms hearts everywhere. Their faithfulness is our inheritance. Their calling is our calling.
As we gather for the 2026 General Conference, may the beauty of Your holiness be more compelling than our disagreements. May Your Spirit speak louder than our strategies. May we leave not merely with resolutions, but with a renewed surrender to Your mission—set apart, sent out, and filled to overflowing.
Make us, together, a holy people worthy of the world You love.
Kila siku, kila saa, Wewe ni mwaminifu, Bwana.
In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—our Holy and Faithful Triune God,
Amen.

For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God's people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Ephesians 1:15-17 NIV
Pray:
Heavenly Father,
We pause on this day to confess that we as Your faithful people are still lacking so much in order for Your will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. The thought of Your will being done on Earth is so overwhelming, but we believe in the power of Your Holy Spirit to accomplish what is impossible through the lens of human eyes.
We pray with Paul for incredible wisdom and revelation specifically for the Global Methodist Church and the work of the General Conference. We don't want just more knowledge, we want wisdom and discernment to see beyond what is visible. We won't settle for what seems obvious, we want fresh revelation from the halls of heaven. We won't be satisfied with what is normal, we pray for the unexpected which leads us to a vital, impactful place in your Kingdom.
We seek the empowerment of the Holy Spirit so that people will talk about the faith of the Global Methodist Church and each and every member. We pray that each of us, as followers of Christ, will know You better and share the beauty of our relationship with others around the world.
It is only by Your power and might we will be used for any benefit to the Kingdom of God. We pray for humility as we seek and discern our participation in unfolding Your will for all people. Fill us with wisdom and fresh revelation.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

North Alabama Annual ConferenceDay 13
Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."
Romans 8:8-15 NIV
Pray:
Heavenly Father, God of glory, we turn to You before this General Conference begins. Aware that we absolutely need Your Spirit, we pray that You may be poured out abundantly upon this assembly.
Holy Spirit, we invite You—come enlighten our minds and guide our discussions so that they may be in perfect harmony with Your will. Remove all misunderstanding, break down the barriers of selfishness, and preserve us from the influence of our weak hearts.
Inspire the leaders, the delegates, and all participants. Fill us with a spirit of brotherly love, wisdom, and discernment, so that we may serve with charity and unity.
May this conference not be merely an administrative meeting, but a time of revival in which Your glory is revealed. May Jesus Christ be at the center of our exchanges. We entrust to You every agenda, every report, and every vote. May everything be done for the advancement of Your Kingdom.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

"How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!... For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore."
Psalm 133:1, 3b NIV
Pray:
Our Blessed Triune God,
You are the eternal epitome of unity, existing in a perfect communion of love. We recognize that it is truly good and pleasant when Your people hailing from diverse tribes, languages, and nations gather from every corner of the globe. As we assemble for this General Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, we ask that You knit our hearts together in a tapestry of faith.
When we dwell in solidarity for the sacred cause of the extension of Your kingdom, we know You will bestow Your richest blessings upon each and every participant.
Lord, we petition for Your spirit of unity to prevail over this entire community. We ask that You help us lay down any attitudes of pride, prejudice, or self-interest that may arise within our hearts. We come humbly before Your throne of grace, bringing our one petition for peace within this body of believers. You have promised, "Ask and it shall be given…;" and so we plead for this essential grace of oneness. We pray alongside Jesus that we may be one, just as You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, are perfectly one.
Holy Spirit, empower us to make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. We pray that we may agree with one another in our speech and that no divisions find a foothold among us. Instead, let us be perfectly united in mind and thought, guided by Your wisdom rather than our own agendas. May this conference be a season of full restoration and deep encouragement. Let us be of one mind, and as we finish our work, may we depart in peace.
We ask these things in the mighty name of God Almighty, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:3-6 NIV
Pray:
All glory, honor, and praise be unto God Almighty, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who alone is worthy of all worship, adoration, and reverence. We humbly thank You, O Lord, for Your unfailing love—a love that never fails and is renewed every morning.
You are the living God, who reigns forever and ever. May all glory and majesty belong to You eternally. We pray that Your glory would shine upon Your people, and that You would bless and strengthen all who love and serve You with all their heart, soul, strength, and mind.
We ask for Your abundant blessings upon the Global Methodist Church, that it may continue to be a source of blessing to churches and to many people in Thailand and throughout the world.
We earnestly pray for GMC Thailand. Thailand is in need of Jesus Christ. May the people of Thailand repent, come to faith, and place their full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
We pray for the growth and multiplication of the Church, that disciples may be raised up in every district and every province. May believers make believers, disciples make disciples, and churches plant churches, all empowered by the mighty work of the Holy Spirit. May the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ be fully accomplished in our generation. May the name of Jesus be exalted above all names, and may His love be proclaimed and extended throughout the entire world. We ask for Your gracious blessings upon all servants of God—pastors, leaders, and their families. Grant them strength, good health, unity, and peace. May Your abundant grace rest upon them all.
We offer this prayer in the most precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

"Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it."
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 ESV
Pray:
In peace, let us pray to the Lord for the Global Methodist Church. For joy in the Lord, that we may be sustained in the time of waiting for His will and purpose to unfold in these latter days; for patience under trials; and for hope that endures the changes and chances of this mortal life.
For all Global Methodist pastors and all church workers that the words they bear would prepare the way of Jesus' second advent and be received by all who hear them. For the homes of our land, that God would grant healing and good health and safety and security to all families; and that the faith would be delivered from one generation to the next.
For those entrusted with positions of leadership in The Global Methodist Church and in different governments for service. Men and women who defend us against the enemies of our nations and for those who enact and enforce laws that protect us, especially God's laws. For the sick and grieving that as the day draws near when blind eyes see, deaf ears hear, lame legs leap and mute tongues sing for joy, God would grant them healing according to His gracious will.
For hearts that trust in the Lord at all times; for courage to confront our doubts and fears with the Word of the Lord; and for strength to fulfill our vocations of worship, witness, prayer and works of mercy. For faith and joy to receive the Lord's Supper worthily this day, as Christ comes as a foretaste of the Lamb.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen.

"Enlarge the place of your tent; Stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, spare not; Lengthen your cords And strengthen your pegs."
Isaiah 54:2 NASB
Pray:
Almighty God, You are the Sovereign Lord; the Great I AM. You rule over Your Church with lovingkindness. It is Your deep desire that we expand to every nation, every tribe, every clan, every family on earth by making disciples of all people.
You have given to us Your Holy Spirit so that we would have the power here on earth to accomplish this work. We are not to keep this treasure to ourselves. Yet too often Lord, that is exactly what we have done. We have expected others to do the work. We have expected someone else to tell of the good news of Jesus Christ to those who have not yet heard.
Lord God, You have NOT given us a spirit of timidity, but of power (2 Tim 1:7)! You have given to us everything that we need so that we might live lives of godliness (2 Peter 1:4)! Your Holy Spirit is filling us so that we might do what our Lord has commanded us.
We ask that You would forgive us for the ways that we have not lived up to our calling. We have not lived holy lives. We have not walked faithfully with You. We have too often sought the easy way, the comfortable way, the way that conformed to the world.
We ask that You would anoint us and fill us again with Your Holy Spirit. Come Holy Fire! Burn away everything that is dross, and refine us that we would be pure gold and silver fit for the King of Kings. May we go into all the world as holy vessels, filled with the Holy Spirit, and share with everyone we meet that Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice for sin, and is alive forevermore!
In Jesus' name,
Amen.

Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Acts 2:47 KJV
Pray:
Father God,
We thank You for the model of the early Church, a community that praised You, lived in unity, and was full of grace and Spirit before men. You are the One who adds, the One who saves, the One who builds Your Church. So, we ask You to let this reality be seen in our midst as well. Give us unity, purity, passion for prayer, and love for people. Make our lives reflect the beauty of Your holiness, and may our testimony be pleasing to those around us. Lord, add to our number those who are being saved. Open doors for the Gospel, prepare hearts, and raise up dedicated workers, filled with the Spirit and power. We trust in Your care and faithfulness.

Amen.

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:5-6 NIV
Pray:
Dear Holy and Heavenly Father,
You are the God who gives endurance and encouragement, and we come before You with grateful hearts. Lord, we ask that You shape the minds and spirits of our 2026 General Conference leaders and delegates to reflect the attitude of Christ Jesus. Teach us to walk in humility, holiness, and love, so that we may see one another not through our own eyes, but through the compassion and mercy of Your Son Jesus Christ.
Grant us patient endurance when responsibilities weigh heavily upon us, and encouragement when our spirits grow weary. May the power of the Holy Spirit strengthen, fill, and sustain us throughout the conference, so that we do not falter in our faith or in our love for one another. Unite us, Lord, in one mind and one voice, so that together we may glorify You, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Keep us from disharmony and replace it with accord rooted in Your truth and love. Let our words be seasoned with grace, our actions guided by holiness, and our hearts bound together in peace. May our unity and achievements be a testimony to the world of Your power and draw others to the light of Christ.
Father, we long to glorify You not only with our lips but with our lives. May our worship be pure, our prayers sincere, and our service steadfast. Through the Holy Spirit, make us one body, keep us in a high calling, proclaiming with joy that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of Your holy name.
In Christ Jesus we pray,
Amen.

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires. The mind governed by flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
Romans 8:5-6, 14 NIV
Pray:
Great and Holy God, we give You thanks for life and health. We acknowledge that You alone are God and there is no other God beside You. We come before Your presence with thanksgiving, knowing that without You we are nothing. Thanks for counting us worthy and calling us to be Your children.
We live today in a morally degenerated world, a world in which the Word of God is being twisted and altered to suit the desires and caprices of those who want to have their own way and conduct their lives based on worldly norms and standards. We pray that You give us the grace to stand up for the Gospel truth even at the peril of our lives. As a new denomination, we are grateful for the leading of the Holy Spirit as we engage communities to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially in areas hostile to the Gospel.
We confess all our sins that we have committed in thoughts, words and deeds, so that as we pray, you will hear our supplications and grant unto us our hearts' desire. We pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us in all we seek to accomplish. May God open up windows from heaven and pour down blessings upon us in unexpected ways.
Holy God, we are weak but Thou are strong. Give us the strength to persevere in the face of persecution and distraction. We especially pray for the success of the upcoming 2026 General Conference.
In Jesus' name we pray,
Amen.

Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of Holiness.
Psalm 29:2 NKJV
Pray:
Our everlasting Father, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude for how far you have brought us as one family in Christ Jesus. God, we are calling upon You to help us recognize and approach You with proper reverence.
You are the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords we know as a denomination. We pray that you grant us the grace to praise and worship You with adoration, because of who You are, Jehovah. Guide us with your mercies and grace, and help us to love You the same way You love us without measure. We pray to be close to You in order to distinguish truth from error, good from evil, and understand Your will in all situations. We repent where we have gone astray as Your children.
Matthew 18:20 NIV, reminds us that where two or three are gathered in your name, there you're in their midst. As we prepare to gather at the General Conference, we call upon You to be in our midst, and release your Holy Spirit to guard our thoughts, hearts, and deeds. May you take the lead as we pray for sanctification of the venue and all the conference sessions. While gathered together, remind us to practice love and joy in our hearts through prayer for one another, and ask You to protect and keep our families and congregations under your merciful wings while away.
Hear our humble prayer, and it is in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do pray and believe,
Amen.

"The time promised by God has come at last!" he announced. "The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!"
Mark 1:15 NLT
Pray:
Heavenly Father,
We come before you today to ask you to prepare our hearts for General Conference of the Global Methodist Church. We are so excited to learn that there are 7000 churches around the world in the GMC who will be represented in our gathering. Many voices, many nations, one Spirit, One Savior, One Holy Father. We praise You Lord for raising up the Global Methodist Church. We begin our day with humble repentance from all our sin. We pray that You teach us more each day how to joyfully repent of our sin and know that Jesus has come near. To prepare our hearts for a holy encounter with Christ, we know repentance comes first. So teach us how to put this into practice in our day to day living.
I pray Father that you teach us to excel in repentance. We have not been so good at that, but we want to be. So help our church soar when it comes to learning how to be a people who seek after your heart with our whole heart through your gift to us of repentance. Build our General Conference on your Word. We rejoice that as we gather from nations around the world, the Kingdom of God is surely near. Lord as we do draw near, let your Holy Spirit fall on our General Conference again. Teach us how to repent daily in our walk with you so that by the blood of Jesus, You will cleanse us from every sin, give us victory over that sin, and set us free to worship You and serve You with our whole hearts, with our best effort. Not for our glory, but for the namesake of Jesus Christ our Lord.
In the name of Jesus we pray,
Amen

"But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression. May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer."
Psalm 19:12-14 NIV
Pray:
God our Rock and Redeemer, we come before you as a Church, surrendering to you our whole being. We worship you. We confess our sins before you O God. Forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
As we gather in Johannesburg, South Africa for this historic conferencing, we pray for wisdom upon our leaders who have been assigned different responsibilities to perform. May you, O Lord, grant all of them wisdom so that this gathering will serve as a holy sacrifice acceptable to you.
We pray for the Assembly of Bishops as they may be taking turns to preside over the meeting, may Your Holy Spirit guide them.
We pray for all our delegates across the world who will be traveling by air, by sea and by roads, grant them safety. We pray that as our delegates deliberate at committee levels, guide their thoughts and words that all the decisions reached may be influenced by the Holy Spirit and become documents for use in the Global Methodist Church globally.
We pray for the plenary sessions that our final resolutions will challenge us to be holy in thoughts and deeds. May these words of our mouths and this meditation of our heart be pleasing and acceptable in your sight Lord, our Rock and our Redeemer. That at the end, we will experience the beauty of your holiness.
In the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we pray.
Amen.

Those who trust in their wealth And boast in the multitude of their riches, None of them can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him.
Psalm 49:6-7 NKJV
Pray:
Most gracious and everlasting Father, we praise and adore You for your goodness and mercy toward us. You have been faithful to us from generation to generation in spite of our unfaithfulness. You are a loving and caring God; You continue to supply our needs and watch over our families, communities, nations, and the world at large. What a mighty, holy and loving God you are!
Lord, we come before You confessing our faults and failures. We are not even worthy to stand before You because we are sinners! We live in a fallen world where people are chasing wealth, fame, and knowledge but do not have time for You. None of these, by no means, can redeem us and our relatives, nor give to You a ransom for our misdeeds! Lord, have mercy upon us and forgive us our sin! Cleanse us from all unrighteousness and lead us in the path of holiness.
Lord, as we gather for the 2026 General Conference, may we the people called Global Methodists know that we exist for the glory and honor of God, who has redeemed us through the shed blood of His dear Son Jesus Christ, to spread scriptural holiness across the globe. Give us the courage to, through the Holy Spirit, witness boldly to people that we encounter in our daily lives. May our fellowship bring glory and honor to Your name!
Thank You for Your faithfulness toward us and for hearing us when we call upon You.
We ask in the precious name of Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
Amen!

And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
Isaiah 6:3-4 NIV
Pray:
Holy God, like Isaiah, we bow and tremble as we behold Your holy Presence through eyes of faith. We cannot but be mindful of our imperfections ever revealed before your perfect holiness. Cleanse us one and all as Isaiah was purified and let everything that is not of You die within us and awaken us to embrace afresh the mission of spreading scriptural holiness to all corners of the globe.
Help us to not just pay lip service to Your invitation to holiness but to humbly and daily submit ourselves to Your sanctifying Holy Spirit that empowers us to be what You desire us to be. As those who have been cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, make us holy in our thoughts, words and deeds so that we may reveal Your holiness to the world one person at a time.
Bless all that we will do in Your name not only during our General Conference but always at all our local churches, circuits, districts and annual conferences so that the world will have a foretaste of the glory that will be revealed in us when Jesus returns to take us to our eternal home. We thank You for setting us apart for this holy work.

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Psalm 16:11 NIV
Pray:
Our Most Precious Heavenly Father,
We are in awe of You and Your goodness over our lives. Thank You for Your mighty hand that guides us through the trials of every season. The world is scary and loud all around us but in Your Presence we find everything we need and more. Forgive us when we seek the world's answers rather than Your Presence.
In Your Presence our minds are calmed, our hearts are healed, our spirits find rest. Confusion is no more, peace prevails, wisdom is gained, joy rises. We have strength beyond our own, we have fullness of life, there is light, fears disappear. As your sweet love covers us, our sins are forgiven and we become forgivers, by your grace we are made new.
Lord, in Your Presence is where we want to live. Thank You for all the riches of Your love over our lives. Let our words and actions daily be a love letter back to You for all Your hands have given us.
In Jesus' sweet name we pray. Amen

For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was His plan from before the beginning of time—to show us His grace through Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 1:9 NLT
Pray:
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, Who has kept us alive, sustained us, and enabled us to reach this season—gathering for our General Conference. May we shout for joy over Your victory and lift our banners in Your beautiful name.
Before the beginning of time, You planned to rescue us from the corruption of this fallen world. You called us to live holy and Spirit-filled lives united with Jesus. Splendor and majesty and glory are Yours alone—we did nothing to deserve such an honor or to receive Your marvelous grace.
We confess that we limit You and what You long to do through us to expand Your Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven. We lose sight of our overcoming identity. Forgive us, remind us whose we are and that Your joy is our strength. May we embrace this spiritual reality and bear much fruit.
Lord, we thank You for Your Word—living and active—revealing truth, exposing rebellion, correcting our course, and training us for every good work. As we walk in Your ways and abide in Your truth, may the world encounter Your unconditional love, peace and abundant life through us.
We ask for divinely inspired words—and wonders—compelling them to ask, seek, and knock. Delight them with the knowledge that You are just as excited about the reunion! You are standing on the other side of the door, also knocking! When they hear Your voice, the door will open, and together, we'll celebrate eternally!
Father, we thank You that we are fearfully and wonderfully made; saved, healed and delivered by the precious blood of Christ; filled with Your Holy Spirit; shaped by Your faithfulness and compassion; and given authority to do even greater works in Your name. Amen!

Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives.
Galatians 5:25 NLT
Pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Through Your breath, You gave us life, and so we are in awe of who You are and what You can do.
We believe that as we ask for Your Presence to be in our General Conference in South Africa, Your power will also be so great and mighty in that place. Whether we are delegates or not, help us to be faithful in praying for this. As the day draws near, prepare our hearts and our minds for this General Conference.
Make us attentive to Your instructions. Let everyone who will take part in this conference be Spirit-filled, anointed, and full of God's Presence, walking in obedience to You.
This is a gathering of Your chosen ones, so the enemy, satan, is not welcome. We reject him, and we declare that any demonic force shall not prevail in that place or over the lives of everyone who will be there. We seal the venue with the blood of Jesus. There is nothing the enemy can do to distract, tempt, or lure God's people. Only the Lord's will be done.
May the beauty of Your holiness be so evident during the whole event. Let Your Spirit move freely, O Lord. Fill the venue with Your holy Presence, and let the pillar of cloud and of fire be a manifestation of Your glory.
From the first to the last day of this holy gathering, may the Holy Spirit lead us, and let Your voice be so clear that we may hear and know Your direction for our Church. We know that You have beautiful and awesome plans for us, and we declare victory even now for this conference and for all Global Methodist Churches worldwide.
In the powerful Name of our Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
Deuteronomy 6:5-6 ESV
Pray:
Awesome God,
We praise You for Your faithful steadfast love toward each of us. We are grateful for the extravagant gift of Your love.
Remind us that we only have as much love to share with others as the amount we feel we are loved by You. Empty us of the things of the world, and fill us again through the power of the Holy Spirit with Your love and grace and kindness. May we experience Your love for us in new and creative ways. Teach us to release the power of Your love as we interact with the world.
Enlarge our hearts and come baptize us with a "spirit of love." Come do it again, Lord. May Your love revealed through the actions and words of those who attend General Conference 2026 pour out within the meetings, in the hallways, at the eating places, in the streets, at the hotels, on the roadways. Everywhere the delegation goes, may they leave behind them the fragrance of Your love for the world. May the Global Methodist Church be defined by Your love, Your holiness, Your grace, and Your kindness without forsaking Truth. Your Word is truth. Keep us biblical. Keep us pursuing holiness. Keep us "looking out for the interests of others" who are not yet with us.
We know that when we seek to love You with our whole hearts, our love for others increases. Grow a desire within us to be passionate about loving all the people, not just in word, but through our actions. May they say, "See how they love one another." May the light of Your love spread far and wide. Use us as Your vessels to reflect the light of the Son. Shower us with Your love, so we may splash others with Your love.
In the powerful name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Hebrews 12:14 NIV
Pray:
Holy and eternal God,
We thank You because in Your grace You have called us to be Your people. You are perfectly holy, and yet You invite us to walk with You and reflect Your character in our daily lives. We recognize that holiness does not come from our own efforts, but from Your transforming work within us.
Lord, teach us to pursue holiness with sincere hearts. In the midst of a world full of distractions, help us live with a deep desire to please You. Purify our thoughts, our words, and our actions so that our lives may reflect the beauty of Your Presence. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Transform our hearts, guide us in Your truth, and strengthen us to live in a way that honors Your name. May a Spirit-filled life produce in us love, humility, patience, and faithfulness in all that we do.
We also pray for the General Conference of 2026. Grant wisdom, unity, and discernment to all who will participate. Help us listen to one another with respect and, above all, listen to Your voice. Guide every conversation and every decision so that everything reflects Your will.

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for He has looked favourably on His people and redeemed Them. He has raised up a mighty Saviour for us … that we would be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us. Thus He has shown the mercy promised to our ancestors, and has remembered His holy covenant … to grant us that we, being rescued from the hands of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.
Luke 1:68-75 NRSV
Pray:
Dear Lord,
Our hearts are filled with gratitude and humility because You, the Holy One, have looked favourably on us. You have raised a mighty Saviour to redeem us. You forgave our sins and bestowed on us such a mercy that is not only undeserved but it is beyond our comprehension. You called us to be Your children, to be Your instrument to reach others and win them for Your Kingdom. Words are insufficient to express our gratitude. Help us always to remember that we have been chosen not because of our own merit. What we are and what we have we owe entirely to You and Your generosity. You called us to serve You and gave us the gifts we need to serve to the best of our abilities.
Lord, fill our hearts and minds with Your love and wisdom, give us the courage we need, lead us into a personal spiritual growth so that we can serve You without any fear, in holiness and righteousness and faithfully lead Your people. Grant us the joy and privilege to be Your faithful servants all our days. Help us to grow holy and righteous so that when people look into our eyes they may see Christ in us and burn with the desire to know You. Grant that we may be light in this dark world.
Lord, we are grateful for all the wonders we have witnessed in this new denomination. We feel so privileged and humble to see Your Holy Spirit at work around the world beyond our greatest dreams and imagination. We pray the 2026 General Conference will be Spirit led and Spirit filled so that all decisions that are made will serve You and Your Church in the best possible way.
In Christ we pray. Amen.

We come before You, the Holy and Righteous One. You are the one true God who reigns and rules above all. We magnify and exalt Your great name. Nothing can compare to the beauty of Your Holy Presence!
We are thankful to gather as Brothers and Sisters in Christ from around the world. We come together in tremendous joy celebrating the move of the Holy Spirit throughout the Global Methodist Church. We praise You for every person who has been born again in Jesus, for every act of service through the local church to express the love of God to our neighbors, for every gathering of Your people shouting praises to Your name and for every work of Your Spirit to heal and restore the brokenhearted since our last General Conference!
We come humbly before you in prayer for the 2026 General Conference. We know You have Your plans to be accomplished at this conference. We want Your will to be fulfilled and not our own. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 2:5 NIV
Pray:
Heavenly Father, who spoke the universe into being by Your powerful Word, empower us to be faithful through that same Word. Your Word alone is the light of our lives, guiding our paths in righteousness and holiness. As we began this movement grounded in Your Word, grant that we may hold fast to it as we move forward.
Lord Jesus, Savior and Lord of life, as we prepare for the General Conference of the Global Methodist Church, grant that every delegate and servant of your church may earnestly seek the mind and heart of Jesus. Teach us humbly to follow Christ, who emptied Himself, took the form of a servant, and humbled Himself, even to the point of death on a cross.
By the power of the Holy Spirit, grant us courage to renounce worldly power and the temptations that place prosperity and success above obedience and love. As children of God, enable us to stand firmly against injustice, violence, and wars that perpetuate discrimination. May we live by the law of life and the Spirit, united to bear faithful witness to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness throughout the world.
May the 2026 General Conference bring honor and praise to Jesus Christ alone, the name above all names. Together, we kneel before the cross, confessing with one voice that He is the Savior, giving all honor and glory to God the Father. Help us fulfill our calling to reach people one by one through the witness of the good news of the cross.
Fill us with the compassionate heart of Jesus, who welcomes strangers and stands alongside those who suffer. We especially intercede for persecuted Christians worldwide; open paths for our connection and enable our churches to bless, support, and stand firmly with them.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
John 3:17 NIV
Pray:
God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we acknowledge you as our Creator, as our Redeemer, as our Comforter and as the One who calls us to repentance.
We confess that in our striving for holiness and sound true doctrine, sometimes we forget that You came to save the world. We long for truth and mercy, for justice and compassion, for orthodoxy and orthopraxy— But most of all, Jesus, we long for you. Like you, may we be quick to condemn sin, but may we always be open to the idea that you love sinners.
Thank you, Jesus, that Your grace is always ready to save. Thank You for Your life. Thank You for Your death. Thank You for the cross. Thank You for your forgiveness. Thank You for Your freedom. Thank You for Your resurrection.
Jesus, we need You, today.
Holy Spirit, we ask You to break our hearts for the 3.2 billion people around the world that do not know they are forgiven and loved. Would You use us as Global Methodists to reach them with Your good news? We ask You to empower us. We want to be Your body in our homes, in our churches, in our communities and around the world. Would you come inhabit Your Church—that we might bring your gospel to everyone who has not heard about You?

Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, And I shall dwell forever (throughout all my days) in the house and in the presence of the Lord.
Psalms 23:6 AMP
Pray:
Heavenly Father,
We exalt your name high; we thank You for having an encounter with You through Your mercy. You are a glorious God. We thank You for the opportunity to be called Your children through Your grace. Allow us to walk according to Your will and purpose.
Thank You for your unfailing love, kindness and mercy. You love us with our sinful behavior; we humble ourselves and adore You, Lord. We are in Your Presence, with fullness of joy. Your Word in the book of Hebrews 4:16 (ESV) says let us come to You with confidence, draw near the throne of grace, receive mercy and find grace to help in a time of need. We desire to be in Your Presence all the days of our lives.
Purify our hearts Lord, have mercy on us Lord. We pray for a peaceful 2026 General Conference, full of wisdom and ideas to rebuild Your Kingdom and make more disciples for the transformation of the world. We surrender it all to You.
May Your love, kindness, humility, grace and mercy follow us all our days. Wash us and cleanse us with Your blood. Guard our hearts, protect us from harm, lead our Christian Faith. Direct our paths, Lord. May Your mercy cover us. Your unending love and grace lead us. I pray.

So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, "Greetings!" And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me."
Matthew 28:8-10 ESV
Pray:
Good and gracious God,
We come before You as Your children from all nations, cultures, and ages. As we begin to prepare for the work before us and as we prepare to descend upon Johannesburg, South Africa, may we prepare our hearts, minds, souls and spirits to be one with You.
God of grace, when Mary heard from the angel Gabriel, "Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!" she trusted. As we "greet" one another, may we remember you are with us and to trust in you.
God of love, when the disciples heard Jesus say, "Greetings," the disciples came together and worshiped Him. As we "greet" one another, may we as brothers and sisters, fall on our knees and worship Jesus Christ as one body.
God of mercy, throughout the gathering, may we "greet" one another with the hope, trust and humility of Mary and may we "greet" one another with the hope of the risen King Jesus.
In Jesus' name we pray,
Amen

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
John 13:34-35 NIV
Pray:
Almighty God,
We thank You for loving us and bringing us this far. We are a young denomination seeking to be obedient to You, by making disciples of Jesus Christ who spread scriptural holiness across the globe.
Holiness has become a word that many have shunned, as though being set apart to You is just too much to ask. But it is because You love us that You want us to be holy. You know that in holiness we will experience the full life that Jesus came to not only demonstrate, but to give us by the power of the Holy Spirit. Help us to embrace the beauty of holiness, as You have embraced us.
We are a mixed bag, Lord. We don't always see things the same way, and we grow frustrated with one another to the point of mutual blindness. Help us to be united in our vision, to be a people dedicated to You, filled with Your Spirit, who truly love one another.
We are grateful, Jesus, that You did not leave us alone, but that You sent Your Holy Spirit to fill us to the point of overflowing. As the General Conference gathers in South Africa, may the streets of Johannesburg experience an overwhelming sense of Your Presence. May the doors of the Sandton Convention Centre open to release not just a crowd of people into the streets, but a powerful wave of Spirit-filled agents of God's Kingdom. May the way that we love one another be a witness to all the world that we are Your disciples.
In Jesus' name we pray,
Amen.
