Mission Experience

Mission Experience is an invitation to step into God’s work—together.

Whether you feel called to serve hands-on, support through prayer, or give generously, there is a place for you in this mission. Conference attendees will have opportunities to participate in meaningful service projects that bless local communities, while those unable to attend can still join the work through prayer and financial support. Every role matters. Every gift makes a difference. Together, we can extend Christ’s love in tangible ways.

Vacation Bible School (Children’s Bible Camp)

Dates/Times: Monday, August 31 – Friday, September 4, 1:00–5 p.m (1-3 p.m. Wednesday).

Location near Sandton Convention Center

Description:

A five-day VBS program for children in the community, hosted in partnership with a local GMC

church. Each day will include Bible teaching, worship, crafts, and activities.

Needs:

● 20 volunteers

● Volunteers for cooking, serving, and clean-up as part of the feeding ministry

● Children’s ministry workers to lead the VBS program

Christian Discipleship Discussions

Dates/Times: Monday, August 31 – Friday, September 4, 1:00–5:00 p.m (1-3 p.m Wednesday).

Location will be the same as VBS

Description:

Adult discipleship small groups will gather after the meal each day to explore the characteristics

of the Global Methodist Church and how these values can transform lives and communities.

Needs:

● 20 volunteers

● Volunteers to join local church leaders in facilitating and participating in discussions

Clergy & Leadership Training

Dates/Times: Monday, August 31 – Friday, September 1, 7:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Same location as VBS

Description:

Focused on Wesleyan biblical teaching and leadership formation, this training will equip clergy

and lay leaders with GMC distinctives, the catechism, and other key resources.

Needs:

● 20 volunteers

● A few experienced teachers/leaders

● Volunteers to prepare and serve lunch each day

Health Checks

Dates/Times: Saturday, August 29 – Tuesday, September 1, 1:00–4:00 p.m.

Location will change each day

Description:

Basic health checkups will be provided by doctors and healthcare workers at local church sites,

alongside a hot meal for all participants. Prayer and spiritual encouragement will also be offered.

Needs:

● 20 volunteers

● Doctors and healthcare professionals

● Volunteers to prepare/distribute food and pray with participants

Spirit & Truth Prayer and Evangelism Training

Date/Time: Saturday, August 29, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Location TBD

Description:

An open training session on prayer and evangelism, equipping participants with tools for

community building and outreach. Afterward, teams will go into Johannesburg communities for

practical ministry alongside GMC churches.

Needs:

● 250 volunteers/participants

● All are invited to attend and participate

Church Construction Project

Dates/Times: Monday, August 31 – Friday, September 4, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Location dependent upon funding

Description:

Hands-on construction ministry—building or completing a church project in partnership with the

local community. Opportunity to build relationships and pray with community members at the site.

Needs:

● 20 volunteers

● Volunteers of all skill levels

● Lunch preparation and serving team

General Conference 2026 is an opportunity not only to gather, it is also a powerful opportunity to serve, witness, and partner with God’s work in the host community through the Mission Experience.
